When designing our PowderFish neck gaiter, we took special consideration to choose only the highest quality fabrics available. The outer material will provide excellent protection during the most active sports where enhanced breathability is not only desired, but a necessity. The fabric blocks up to 98% of the wind, allowing the remaining two percent to circulate within the fabric. This process speeds up moisture transmission two times faster than other windproof fleece materials, which in turn improves breathability. Featuring a breathable stretch-polyurethane membrane, the fabric is constructed with durable water repellency to shed rain and snow.
To increase moisture management, the PowderFish neck gaiter is lined with a mid-weight fabric designed to keep the user's skin dry when they perspire or when moisture from the user's breath condenses. It has different yarns on either side of the fabric to create two different surfaces: one that moves moisture away from the skin, the other to dry quickly. This liner will move at least 30% more moisture away from the skin and dry quickly to minimize heat loss.
Malden Mills, a Massachusetts-based company, will supply both the exterior and liner fabrics. Malden Mills changed the way outdoor enthusiasts dress for cold weather in 1981 when it invented Polartec® fleece, an invention that Time Magazine named one of the top 100 inventions of the 20th century.
